Yes, we just blogged about the upcoming 2019 Volvo XC40—the ambitious model aimed at getting young professionals over to the Swedish side—earlier this week, but we already have more news to share!

We first thought the Volvo XC40 would only be available in two trims: Momentum and R-Design. The crossover was ready to impress with a 9-inch touchscreen, turbocharged engine, and dazzling 12.3-inch digital driver display all standard, so it wouldn't have been terrible if during the first model year Volvo kept the lineup limited. However, we're pleased to share that they're going all the way and will be offering an Inscription trim.

In case you're unfamiliar with the brand, the Inscription is the top-level offering and brings an added air of sophistication. The Inscription will have a unique wheel design, an updated grille with plenty of chrome, and of course an Inscription badge on the back. There'll also be trim-specific exterior colors, like a beautiful dark and stormy gray that's reminiscent of Sweden's dark waters.

The good looks aren't just reserved for the outside either. Inside you'll find driftwood that's been inlayed for a natural and high-end detail and a crystal gear lever that's sure to be a conversation starter with all passengers. While the model's main goal is to be a little edgier than the rest of the new Volvo lineup, we like that there will be a sophisticated option for shoppers.

Overseas the Volvo XC40 will also be getting an all-new three-cylinder engine. Not only is it powerful, but it's an exciting harbinger for hybrid and all-electric models in the future. That said, there are currently no plans to bring the 3-cylinder to the US market, but it's worth keeping those fingers crossed.
