Here comes the winner - The All-New Volvo 2018 XC60 Compact Crossover SUV

Volvo's Atlanta Metro area car dealership - Volvo Cars Mall of Georgia is opening its doors with a "bang" by introducing a new contender in the Luxury Small SUV segment, the 2018 fully new- and redesigned XC60.

Dimensions of the new 2018 XC60

Just like its older sibling, the 7-passenger seating 2017 Volvo XC90, Volvo built the all-new XC60 on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, assuring that all new Volvo models such as the S90 sedan or the V90 and V90 Cross Country wagons are true products of the Swedish carmaker.

With the new XC60 design we have a winner. The previous model, which was Volvo's best-selling vehicle in the U.S., has a huge and loyal fanbase. With its noticeable changes in shape, width and length the Crossover XC60 of this year has grown - literally.

Volvo XC60 - Safety without compromise

Even though the new Volvo XC60 grew bigger, the weight will be almost the same, since Volvo used more of its light-weighted steel, which allows Volvo to be synonomous for car safety and best-in-class crash test ratings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

As we all know as Georgia commuters, safety is essential. No matter if you are driving from Lawrenceville, Buford, Duluth or Flowery Branch to Atlanta or just planning your weekend trip to Lake Lanier, Volvo Cars Mall of Georgia wants you to be safe. If you have any questions about Volvo cars and SUVs we'll give you all the info and links showing that Volvo keeps driver and pedestrian safe.

This new 5-passenger, compact premium XC60 crossover "will be one of the safest cars ever made" according to Volvo. Loaded with the best and newest technology such as City Safety by Volvo, this collision avoidance system will assist the driver to steer away from obstacles, such as pedestrians or larger animals on country roads, and aides further in getting around objects in front of the small SUV.

Other available Volvo XC60 Safety Systems are BLIS (Blind Spot Information System), OLM (Ongoing Lane Mitigation) - both are with Steer Assist, Volvo Run-Off-Road Mitigation System, Semi-Autonomous Pilot Assist, and an Active High Beam System to name just a few.

Is the Volvo XC60 a smaller version of the XC90?

The answer is short, plain and simple. No!

Compared to the Volvo XC90, which is, by the way, the "most awarded SUV" of all time- the XC60 2018 model year has a sportier appearance.

The objective for the XC60's designer was clear. They needed to produce a distinctive look in the smaller luxury compact SUV segment to stand out. A more aggressive look was achieved by lowering the front and dropping the hood towards the front grille. The lines are clean throughout, accentuating the slimming, so-called character line. A smaller overhang in the rear as well as the angle of the inclining windshield creates the feel and appearance of a true Sport Utility Vehicle.

Choices - The Volvo XC60 Engines

With the 2018 Volvo XC60 T5 and the XC60 T6, our Volvo Car Dealership near the Georgia Mall will kick of the launch of this luxurious SUV. The T5 Base XC60 All Wheel Drive (AWD) has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 250 horsepower (hp) and torque of 258-lb-ft.

The Volvo XC60 T6 AWD comes with a 2.0-liter both turbo- and supercharged engine. The horsepower goes up to 316-hp with 295-lb-ft of torque.

Rounding out the line is the XC60 Plug-In Hybrid model. The so-named eAWD Volvo Hybrid SUV comes with a 400-hp engine. Torque for tis engine: 472-lb-ft! The acceleration from 0-60 mph will take just a tiny bit over 5 seconds!

The batteries in the XC60 Hybrid will last for approximately 28-30 miles electric driving distance, which is perfect for Atlanta's inner-city traffic.

In regard to trim lines, Volvo will offer the XC60 T5 and T6 in the Momentum, Inscription and R-Design trim, just like we could experience in the Volvo XC90 launch. To assure a smooth ride, the XC60 models will be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, providing a pleasant quick and astute shift ratio, which gets even better when the Dynamic Drive mode is selected.

Find your Sanctuary - in the Volvo XC60's Cabin and Interior

When you open the doors of the new XC60, you know you will feel home, safe, relaxed - a passenger cabin worth of having a featured spread in the newest Interior Design magazine.

For example, the Inscription trim line provide you with natural open light driftwood, elegantly applied to door inlays, center console and dashboard. If you are more a fan of glossier look, opt-in for the sleeker look, which would be provided by smoked larch wood trim.

Since this is a Scandinavian Crossover you'll find small insignias of the Swedish flag throughout the cabin, on the trim or placed on the piping of your hand-stitched leather interior - it looks "rich" but subtle. Just like the Swedes prefer.

In the center of the XC60 dashboard, you'll find the huge 9.3-inch touchscreen with Sensus Connect which also was introduced in the 90-Series. With the new 60-Series, Volvo updated the Sensus system with much larger fonts and a more intuitive interface, allowing access to all functions without any confusion.

Additionally, XC60's Sensus will provide Apple and Android smartphone integration and offers native apps such as Spotify, Pandora and Yelp. Those music apps will become especially handy when streaming your songs through concert-quality sounds system of Bowers & Wilkins, which is optional.

All in all, passenger and driver will enjoy the "homey" feel. Other features include a huge panoramic sunroof, slat storage compartments under the rear passenger seats able to house a laptop, tablet or smartphones. Wiper blades come with embedded nozzles injecting the fluid into the rubber blade itself assuring you immediate clear windows when in use. The all-new Volvo XC60 clearly shows how to be different without showing off.
